Northern Lights

Tonight I saw the Northern Lights
While I was driving
And I thought of you.

I thought about
How it was the same
As last time
When I was driving
And I called to tell you.

Except it wasn't the same.

I called my parents
And my grandparents
I texted a few friends
But, you were still on my mind.

I thought about calling you
For old time's sake
To just say
"The Northern Lights are out"
And that was all.

----> up until this point, i thought it was very strong, it could have withstood some clarification of the scenery/stronger imagery, but the emotional aspect was well-done!


But...





I couldn't.

----> i felt this was a cop-out ending. maybe you just needed more lead-up to this sheer-faced drop-off, but it just seemed to end too soon. if you fleshed it out, i think it would fare much better!
